5. Purpose and legal basis of data collection and processing

We use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • to provide you information that will allow you to use our services
  • to automatically customize your documents with your information
  • to alert you of software upgrades, updates, discounts or other services from Aurora
  • to enable the display, operation, and functionality of the portal and our services
  • to ensure system stability and security
  • to improve and protect our services
  • for statistical purposes in the event of attacks on the network infrastructure through which the website is provided
  • to contact you if we suspect that the cardholder’s credit card information has been compromised, i.e., used in a fraudulent way.

We process your personal data in accordance with the applicable data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP). Depending on the context, processing is based on the following legal grounds:

  • Your consent — where you have explicitly given permission (e.g. to receive newsletters) (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a); revFADP Art. 31(1)(a))
  • Performance or initiation of a contract — when processing is necessary to enter into or fulfill a contractual agreement with you (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b); revFADP Art. 31(1)(b))
  • Compliance with a legal obligation — to meet statutory requirements such as tax law or legal investigations (GDPR Art. 6(1)(c); revFADP Art. 31(1)(c))
  • Legitimate interests — for purposes such as ensuring IT security, enforcing legal claims, or improving our services, provided such interests are not overridden by your rights (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f); revFADP Art. 31(1)(e))

If processing is based on your consent or our legitimate interests, you have the right to withdraw your consent or object to the processing at any time by contacting us.

6. Consent

When you provide your personal information, you consent that it can be used for the above purposes and that you are an authorized holder of such information. If you choose not to register or provide personal information, you can still use our website but you will not be able to receive additional services or access certain areas that require registration. When you activate your account, you are providing your consent to occasionally receive information from us. In each communication from us you will have the opportunity to unsubscribe from further communications; alternatively, you may contact us to express your choices at the address provided at the bottom of this page.

7. Security of information

Aurora is strongly committed to protecting your information and ensuring that your choices are honored. We have taken strong security measures to protect your data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. All sensitive data is stored behind multiple firewalls on secure servers.

8. Retention period

We store your data only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was processed, or until legal retention periods expire.

9. Sub-processors, third parties, and data sharing

We engage trusted third-party service providers (“sub-processors”) to process personal data on our behalf. These providers are contractually bound by data processing agreements and provide an adequate level of protection or are subject to appropriate safeguards (e.g., EU Standard Contractual Clauses).

The following sub-processors may receive, store, or process your personal data — including data obtained from Google APIs:

  • Supabase, Inc. (San Francisco, USA) — authentication, database hosting, and storage. When you sign in with Google, your Google email address, display name, and profile picture are stored in Supabase.
  • Railway Corp. (San Francisco, USA) — application hosting and infrastructure.
  • Stripe, Inc. (San Francisco, USA) — payment processing. Your name and email may be shared with Stripe when you subscribe to a paid plan.
  • Vercel, Inc. (San Francisco, USA) — web application hosting and edge delivery.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data — including any data received from Google APIs — to any third party for advertising, marketing, or any other commercial purpose unrelated to providing our services.

Beyond the sub-processors listed above, we may share personal data only in the following circumstances:

  • When required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request;
  • To enforce our Terms of Use or protect the rights, property, or safety of Aurora Intelligence AG, our users, or the public;
  • With your explicit consent.

9.1 Google user data

When you sign in using your Google account, we receive the following data from Google: your email address, display name, and profile picture. This data is used solely to create and maintain your Aurora account and is stored by our authentication provider (Supabase). We do not share, transfer, or disclose Google user data to any third party except the sub-processors listed above, which process the data strictly on our behalf and under our instructions. Google user data is never used for purposes unrelated to providing and improving our services to you.

10. EU and EEA Users’ Rights

As a user located in the European Union or Switzerland, you have specific rights under applicable data protection laws. These rights ensure transparency and control over how your personal data is used. You may:

  • Access your data — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct your data — update or correct inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Delete your data — request deletion when data is no longer needed or based on consent
  • Restrict or object to processing — in certain circumstances, limit how we use your data
  • Request data portability — receive your data in a structured format for reuse elsewhere
  • Withdraw your consent — at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of past processing
  • Lodge a complaint — with a supervisory authority:
    • In Switzerland: the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC)
    • In the EU: your local data protection authority

11. Transfer of information outside of EEA

Personal data collected through our website is stored in Switzerland. In certain cases, we may transfer data to locations outside the European Economic Area (EEA) if required to operate our services — for example, when using third-party service providers.

If such transfers involve countries without an adequate level of data protection, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as:

  • EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs),
  • Binding Corporate Rules, or
  • Explicit consent from you

12. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies (such as pixels and local storage) to enhance the user experience, analyze website traffic, and support the functionality of our platform. Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help us recognize returning users, personalize content, and understand how our services are used.

Cookies may include:

  • Essential cookies — necessary for website functionality (e.g., login, session control)
  • Analytics cookies — used to understand user behavior and improve our services
  • Marketing cookies — used for personalized advertising and performance tracking

Where required by law, we obtain your consent before placing non-essential cookies. You can manage or withdraw your consent at any time through the cookie settings on our website or by adjusting your browser preferences.

13. Changes to this policy

If we make changes to our Privacy Policy, we will post these changes here so that you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use your information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify you by email.
