Looker Connector Troubleshooting
Common issues and solutions for the Aurora Looker Studio Connector.
Common Issues
"Data Set Configuration Error"
This usually means the connector returned data in an unexpected format, or the data source needs to be reconnected.
Solutions:
- Go to Resource → Manage added data sources
- Click Edit on the Aurora data source
- Click Reconnect
- If the issue persists, remove the data source and add it again using the connector link
No data appears in the report
Possible causes:
- Campaign has no data yet. New campaigns may take up to 24 hours to collect initial data. Check your Aurora dashboard to confirm data is available.
- Date range is too narrow. Expand the date range in your Looker Studio report to include dates with data.
- Wrong campaign selected. Verify you selected the correct campaign when configuring the data source.
- Missing Record Type filter. Some fields only apply to specific record types. For example,
BrandandVisibilityare only populated for Brand Visibility records. Add a filter onRecord Typeto match the fields you're using.
Authorization errors
If you see "Authorization required" or "Access denied":
- Go to Resource → Manage added data sources
- Click Edit on the Aurora data source
- Click Reconnect and sign in again with your Aurora Intelligence account
- Verify your Aurora account has an active subscription — the connector requires a paid plan
"Community Connector Error"
This error appears when the connector encounters an unexpected issue. If you are an admin user, debug details may appear in the error dialog.
Common causes:
- Expired OAuth token — Reconnect the data source to get a fresh token
- Subscription expired — Verify your Aurora subscription is active
- API temporarily unavailable — Wait a few minutes and refresh the report
Data seems outdated
The connector respects Looker Studio's data freshness settings:
- Go to Resource → Manage added data sources
- Click Edit on the Aurora data source
- Under Data freshness, select a shorter interval (e.g., 4 hours)
Alternatively, click the Refresh data button in the report toolbar for an immediate refresh.
Empty chart when adding breakdown dimensions
If a chart works with a single metric but goes empty when you add a breakdown dimension (e.g., Brand):
- Delete the chart
- Add a fresh chart of the same type
- Configure the dimensions and metrics from scratch
This can happen when Looker Studio caches schema metadata from an earlier connector version.
Slow report loading
Reports with large date ranges or many queries may load slowly. To improve performance:
- Narrow the date range using a date range control
- Add filters to reduce the data volume (e.g., filter by
Record Type) - Use Extract data as a data source for static snapshots that load faster
- Limit the number of rows in tables (e.g., top 50 queries)
Switching Google accounts
If you need to connect with a different Google account, you must first revoke access from the current one:
- In Looker Studio, go back to the connector gallery (click the back arrow or go to Create → Data source)
- Search for "Aurora" in the gallery search bar
- Click the three dots (⋮) on the Aurora Intelligence connector card
- Click Revoke access
- Switch to the desired Google account in your browser
- Open the connector link again and authorize with your Aurora Intelligence account
Connector not accessible
The connector is currently available via direct link only:
